South Australia

South Australia will move from level 4 restrictions to lockdown at 6pm today, 20 July 2021, for seven days. Under the stay-at-home orders there will only be five reasons to leave your home, including essential work and accessing essential goods. Employers must facilitate working from home where possible for all employees. Masks must be worn in indoor public areas.

Essential Work

Retail
Retail is click and collect only – shop fronts must be closed to public access. Retail good workers supporting the operation of online or phone ordering and collection or delivery of retail orders are permitted onsite. Back door pick-up to supply parts to repair services and automotive trades is possible with high caution and adherence to restrictions, hygienic practices, face masks, and social distancing.

Motor Vehicle Repair and Service
Vehicle repairs and mechanical services can continue to operate, however with strict COVIDSafe practices. Skeleton staff is recommended, as is contactless key exchange and payments with no public onsite access.

Vehicle parts repairs and mechanical services can continue to operate with strict COVIDSafe practices. Skeleton staff is recommended, as is contactless key exchange and payments with no public onsite access. We are advising that modifiers ensure that work undertaken is done so with the intent that it supports the repair of vehicles, so they remain safe on the roads.  Fitting of new accessories, such as roof racks, should wait until after lockdown is lifted.

Parts Supply/Warehousing/ Manufacturing
Commercial operations that supply goods or services necessary to support any business activity that may be carried out in accordance with this direction, and to support the export of goods and services from South Australia, is permitted. Manufacturing and warehousing are therefore authorised to continue operating and supplying to permitted business activities such as vehicle repairs and mechanical services.  Supply chain to essential services and trade should be undertaken with contactless pickup and delivery where possible, exercising high caution and adherence to restrictions, hygienic practices, and social distancing. All businesses are still required to have minimal possible staff, hygiene stations, social distancing, masks wearing in public spaces and where distancing is not possible, and restricted common areas.

Victoria

Victoria Lockdown has been extended until midnight next Tuesday, 27 July. Please continue to observe the rules and operate with caution.

There will be automatic cash support payments to eligible businesses and sole traders across the state who received support through the Business Costs Assistance Program relating to the May-June lockdown – they will now also receive the Victorian Government’s new support payments of $3,000 and $2,000 respectively. These payments should be occurring throughout this week.

The Federal Government will fund payments to individuals who work or live in a COVID-19 Hotspot declared by the Commonwealth – that includes Greater Melbourne, Moorabool Shire, the City of Greater Geelong, Borough of Queenscliffe and the Surf Coast Shire. More information HERE.

New South Wales

We have been made aware of police entering workshops in Greater Sydney to confirm only repair and critical maintenance is being undertaken. Please ensure you are checking with customers and exercising your own judgment as to whether this is essential work. The rule of thumb should be if it can wait, it should.
